Mom Survives Cancer, Surprised With Role On Law & Order: SVU

Sarah Malone was diagnosed with breast cancer just six months after she gave birth to her son. During her 20-week stint of chemotherapy, Malone pulled a TV into her room and binged on favorite show, Law & Order: SVU. Little did she know she would be appearing on the show soon.

Malone’s sister-in-law wrote the Today Show about Malone, her situation, and her love for the show. Hoda Kotb then sprang into action and setup a surprise shooting of Malone on the set of Law & Order: SVU. But how was this going to happen?

While in New York, Malone and best friend Star Vanamali walked on a street sidewalk when a director snapped at them saying the two had to sign waivers since they got in the shot. But Malone could tell something was up when she saw the SVU filming sign. Hoda then pops out of a nearby car, hugs Malone, and tells her she is about to (literally) walk onto the real Law & Order: SVU set for a guest role.

After rehearsing her one line, Malone is thrown into the action and nails her scene. Husband Marcus stands nearby supporting her the entire time, and later says, “I think she’s going to make a great television star.”
