This handwritten letter is further proof that where there’s a will, there’s a way. One Icelandic tourist didn’t have the address of the people that he was mailing a letter to, but he did happen to have an excellent memory and some sick drawing skills. So using the knowledge that he had, he decided to improvise.

On the front of the envelope where one would normally write down a person’s name and address, the sender drew a detailed map to the letter’s final destination. The sender put a red dot on the map that indicated the location of a farm in Hvammesveit, West Iceland. The envelope reads: “Country: Iceland. City: Bรบรฐardalur. Name: A horse farm with an Icelandic/Danish couple and three kids and a lot of sheep!” The letter also gave another tip about the family with a note in the bottom right corner writing, “the danish woman works in a supermarket in Bรบรฐardalur.”

According to a local newspaper in Iceland, this desperate attempt actually worked! The letter did make it to the intended location, believe it or not. Props to the mail service for helping complete this man’s mission to send a letter to some of his Icelandic friends.

How do you think the mail man reacted when he/she first saw the map on this front of the envelope?
