Sometimes, you just don’t get the job. You can have a great interview. The conversation flows beautifully, but you just don’t measure up in the end. Well, according to The Sun, a young woman by the name of Meg went in for an interview with a company called Miller & Carter and was immediately blasted via text message:

Needless to say, the text message, and especially that emoji, were well over the line and not at all appropriate. Maybe she did not qualify for the job, but this was handled horribly. As Billy Madison said, “A simple no would have sufficed.”

Meg told The Sun specific details about how the interview went down with her interviewer, Shantel:
At the end of the interview, I asked when I would hear back. She told me it was never more than a few days and she had my email. But I got the texts a few seconds after leaving.
She also said the “interviewer was unprepared and her phone was going off throughout the interview. So unprofessional.”

We can’t apologize enough to Megan. It was never our intention to be disrespectful or upset her in any way. The texts were sent in error and were intended for our manager, not the candidate. However, we expect our team to act professionally at all times and to give constructive feedback after any interview via email. We are taking this extremely seriously and will be investigating to ensure it never happens again.
Once Meg posted the text on Twitter, her followers came to her rescue. They were NOT happy.
