Disney stars Dove Cameron and Ryan McCartan have broken up less than six months after getting engaged, PEOPLE reports.
The pair’s split was announced by McCartan on Twitter Wednesday, with the actor sharing a message that read, “Dove has decided this relationship isn’t what she wants. We still love each other very much. Please be sensitive, as this is painful.”

Cameron also shared a message on the social media platform after McCartan posted his tweet.
“Thank you for your support & full hearts in this very intense & human time,” she wrote. “There’s a lot love between Ryan & I. Life is beautiful & long.”

Cameron, 20, and McCartan, 23, began dating after meeting on the set of their Disney Channel show Liv and Maddie in 2013, with McCartan popping the question in April of this year. They also formed a musical duo, The Girl and the Dreamcatcher, together in 2015.
