If you’re looking for a great way to catch a break as a comedy writer, you may want to try writing a pitch perfect script for a classic sitcom. That’s exactly what freelance joke contributor for Weekend Update and former Onion News Network writer Billy Domineau did when he penned an original spot-on script for popular comedy series Seinfeld.
While Seinfeld may have gone off the air in 1998, Domineau decided to imagine a scenario in which the show continued on into the days after the terrorist attacks of 9/11. He crafted an original story featuring Jerry Seinfeld, George Costanza, Elaine Benes, and Cosmo Kramer where the characters act like the selfish, entitled, near-sociopathic New Yorkers that they always were throughout the show. Domineau used the backdrop of one of the most tragic moments in the city and country’s history for the setting of the story. He even included characters such as Newman, George’s parents, Uncle Leo, Jackie Chiles, Mr. Wilhelm, and George Steinbrenner. He titled the episode “The Twin Towers” and once you read it, it’s impossible not to picture how incredible this episode would have been.

Domineau posted the script on Google Docs, and the story has been gaining enormous popularity amongst comedians on Facebook. He told Sean McCarthy of The Comic’s Comic that he “was helping someone write a sketch a few months back and told them theirs needed to be an exercise in bad taste, ‘Like imagine if there was a 9/11 episode of Seinfeldโฆwait a minute.” Then, of course, he wrote it.
