Chevy Chase has decided to check into rehab for what his rep calls a “tune up,” according to E! News.
The 72-year-old comedy actor has checked into Hazelden Addition Treatment Center in Minnesota to receive treatment for an alcohol-related issue. His rep said that the Community star is being treated so he can “be the best that he can be.”

Chase has been in rehab in the past. The first time was back in 1986, when he was 43. He checked himself into the Betty Ford drug rehabilitation center because he had become addicted to painkillers as a result of a back injury he had from his days on Saturday Night Live.
Though the actor portrayed former president Gerald Ford many times of the comedy show, Chase did have a lot of respect for the first lady, Betty Ford. Back in 2006, he wrote an op-ed piece for The New York Times talking about Mrs. Ford and his experience at the Betty Ford clinic.
“If it hadn’t been for the courage of Mr. Ford’s wife, Betty, for admitting to an alcohol problem, I would never have received the help I needed in the early 1980s at the Betty Ford clinic, located not far from the Ford residence near Palm Springs,” he wrote. “During my short stay there, I often saw Mrs. Ford personally surveying the clinic and generously offering a helping hand to those who were lucky enough to face their problems and, with the learned help of the clinic staff, appraise their behavior and their lifestyles.”
Hopefully Chase’s “tune up” won’t last too long. Congrats to him for tackling his problems firsthand.
