WWE Divas Division To Get Rebranded; New Title Commissioned

It looks like the Divas butterfly-covered championship will see its last WrestleMania this Sunday. SEScoops is reporting that both the Divas Championship as well as the Divas moniker will be retired officially on the Raw following WrestleMania 32 in Dallas.

Debuting in 2008, the Divas Championship was created as the Women's Championship had become a Raw-exclusive title during the brand extension. Michelle McCool was crowned the inaugural Divas Champion, which was unified with the Women's Championship to make the Unified Divas Championship. Later, the "unified" part would be removed from the name and the Women's Championship would be retired.

Whoever walks out of Sunday's Divas Championship match will be the last as the Women's Championship will be reinstated. There are reports of a new title belt being commissioned that looks similar to the World Heavyweight Championship, aka the Big Gold Belt, but smaller and mounted on a white strap, instead of the traditional black.

The Women's Championship was considered one of the longest established championships in professional wrestling, dating back to 1956, which makes it slightly older than the WWE Championship (which was established in 1963).
