The latest installment to a long list of trailers for the upcoming sixth season of FX series American Horror Story seems to suggest that all of the past seasons and stories are connected.

The teaser, appropriately titled "Anthology," takes viewers through a sinister timeline of the show including Murder House, Asylum, Coven, Freak Show and Hotel before mashing up the season 6 promo spots. The 30-second trailer ends with an eerie shot in the woods with the letters "AHS" spelled out in bones.

This new trailer doesn't clarify any direction as to where the next season will go, but only seems to indicate that there may be some connection with the past themes and settings.

While the season 6 teasers are reportedly misdirects according to showrunner Ryan Murphy, they offer equally creepy themes for the mysterious sixth season. Other promo clips have included insects crawling on faces, wind chimes made of human teeth, and extraterrestrial beasts. It's possible some of these promos are going to be the themes for seasons to come as FX CEO John Landgraf has stated that there is no shortage of ideas for the show and that there are no plans to end the series.

The sixth season will feature some familiar faces including: Evan Peters (X-Men: Days of Future Past), Kathy Bates (Misery), Denis O'Hare (True Blood), Angela Bassett (How Stella Got Her Groove Back), Sarah Paulson (The People Vs. O.J. Simpson), Wes Bentley (Ghost Rider), Finn Wittrock (The Big Short), Matt Bomer (The Nice Guys), Cheyenne Jackson (Behind the Candelabra), Leslie Jordan (Will & Grace), and Lady Gaga (Sin City: A Dame to Kill For).

American Horror Story returns on Wednesday, September 14 at 10/9c on FX.

What do you think the theme for season six of American Horror Story should be?
