Huma Abedin And Anthony Weiner Are Now Separating

Just out: Statement from Huma Abedin regarding NY Post story on Anthony Weiner: [...]

On Monday, Huma Abedin and husband Anthony D. Weiner have announced that they will be separating. The news comes after the story broke that Mr. Weiner had been involved in yet another sexting scandal.

Huma Abedin, top aide of Hillary Clinton, made a statement on Monday morning about the situation. The announcement read: "After long and painful consideration and work on my marriage, I have made the decision to separate from my husband. Anthony and I remain devoted to doing what is best for our son, who is the light of our life. During this difficult time, I ask for respect for our privacy."

Weiner, the former government Representative, destroyed his own political career in addition to creating problems with his marriage in the initial scandal. The latest known sexting occurred in January of 2015, and they continued through this month, according to the unidentified woman.

The woman and Weiner exchanged pictures "of the woman in various bikinis and of Mr. Weiner half-dressed, showing off his stomach or his crotch," according to The New York Times. The messages between the two also revealed that they talked about sex.

Perhaps the most disturbing message exchange was when Weiner changed the discussion from massage parlors and allegedly wrote, "Someone just climbed into my bed."

"Really?" the woman replied.

In a screenshot dated July 31, 2015, Mr. Weiner responded with an image showing a child curled up next to him as Mr. Weiner was wearing white Jockey shorts. The boy was likely Mr. Weiner and Ms. Abedin's toddler son.

When asked whether he had continued engaging in these activities that got him in trouble in 2011, Weiner recently told The New York Times this past July, "I'm not going to go down the path of talking about any of that."

He continued, "But I will say this: There's no doubt that the Trump phenomenon has led a lot of people to say to me, 'Boy, compared to inviting the Russians to come hack someone's email, your thing seems almost quaint.'"

Mr. Weiner has not issued a public statement as of yet.
