Reportedly, people arriving at the festival immediately began noticing that the concert grounds weren't even finished being constructed yet. It's also been said that some people were scrounging for towels to use as blankets, and that the tents that were provided were all full up and many couldn't find proper shelter.
Some attendees turned right around and headed back to the airport to just leave, but eventually so many people ended up trying to fly back home that the airport started shutting down flights.
Officials in the Bahamas stated that they were "extremely disappointed" with the "total disorganization and chaos", and went on to say, "The event organizers assured us that all measures were taken to ensure a safe and successful event but clearly they did not have the capacity to execute an event of this scale,"

Among the headlining acts for the festival were pop-punk rockers Blink 182, who dropped off the bill when they heard about the ensuing chaos.
In a statement to festival attendees, they said, "We're not confident that we would have what we need to give you the quality of performances we always give our fans."
Additional acts were to include hip-hop stars Migos and Lil Yachty, as well as EDM trio Major Lazer.
Fyre Fest co-founder Ja Rule released a statement as well, saying, "I wanted this to be an amazing event it was NOT A SCAM as everyone is reporting. I don't know how everything went so left but I'm working to make it right by making sure everyone is refunded."

Ultimately, the festival organizers have "postponed" the event until they can get the whole mess sorted out. Which, hopefully, happens sooner rather than later.
