After Amber Heard publicly announced that she would be giving the money from her $7 million divorce settlement to the ACLU and the Children's Hospital of LA, her now ex-husband Johnny Depp decided that he would take out the middle (wo)man by sending the money directly to the charities.

The checks sent by Pirates of the Caribbean actor Johnny Depp are the first of many installments that will eventually total in $7 million, with each organization receiving $3.5 million.

A representative for Johnny Depp stated: "Following Amber Heard's announcement that her divorce settlement was to be divided equally and gifted to Children's Hospital of Los Angeles and the American Civil Liberties Union, two exceptionally deserving and important charities, Johnny Depp has sent the first of multiple installments of those monies to each charity in the name of Amber Heard, which when completed will honor the full amount of Ms. Heard's pledge."

The spokesperson also added, "Ms. Heard's generosity in giving to these wonderful causes is deeply respected."

When 30-year-old actress Amber Heard made the announcement that she would be donating to charity, she stated, "As described in the restraining order and divorce settlement, money played no role for me personally and never has, except to the extent that I could donate it to charity and, in doing so, hopefully help those less able to defend themselves."

The couple married 15 months ago in February of 2015, but were able to settle their divorce last week on the day before a court hearing for a restraining order filed against Depp by Heard. The actress had withdrawn her allegations that Depp had been physically abusive, and the couple went on to release a joint statement.

Part of the statement read, "They are issuing this joint statement: Our relationship was intensely passionate and at times volatile, but always bound by love...Neither party has lied nor made false accusations for financial gain. There was never any intent of physical or emotional harm."

What do you think about Johnny Depp sending the divorce settlement cash directly to charity in Amber Heard's name?
