WGN's supernatural witch series Salem has just released the first teaser trailer for the upcoming third season, and it looks horrifying! The brief footage shows 47-year-old rocker Marilyn Manson returning to the show as the town's creepy barber/surgeon Thomas Dinley.

"Most of us die as we are born - in agony," Dinley says with a sinister tone to Isaac (Iddo Goldberg) as he examines a bloody corpse, and even eats a leech off of the body in the gut-wrenching 20-second trailer. Manson explained to EW, that his role this season was more than just haircuts and surgeries. He claims his character will be teaming up with the devil to create hell on earth.

"My character ends up being something that could be called the devil's advocate or the devil's best friend," states the "Born Villain" singer. Interestingly, Manson co-wrote the show's creepy opening theme song "Cupid Carries a Gun" with composer Tyler Bates.

The upcoming season of Salem revolves around the war between the devil and the witch Mary Sibley (Janet Montgomery), who died at the end of season 2. She will be resurrected when the show returns, but Manson's character will not play a part in bringing her back.

"He has no moral balance," Manson explains. "The place where Dinley operates his business is not dissimilar to my home. I collect a lot of medical devices."

Series creators Brannon Braga and Adam Simon didn't write the role of Dinley with Manson in mind necessarily. After Manson expressed interest in being on the show, Braga and Simon thought he would be perfect for the role of the demented barber/surgeon. Braga stated that Manson "brought the character to life instantly" with his "inherent, exquisite weirdness." While Manson wanted the role, he wasn't sure how to play it initially. He didn't figure it out until director Nick Corpus suggested he bring a lot of his own personality into the role, EW writes.

Salem returns on Wednesday, November 2 on WGN America.
