Williamstown, Kentucky is now the home to a new theme park based on the biblical story of Noah and the Ark. The park, called the Ark Encounter, is a 510 foot-long structure that is a literal interpretation of the Ark described in biblical stories.

The Ark Encounter is a "$91 million timber framed attraction" and is "seven stories tall and a football field and a half in length." According to the Ark Encounter website, the ark is the largest timber framed structure in the world. The ark has depictions of animal cages and living quarters where Noah and his family would have stayed during the flood. The ark will also feature some animatronics, "but the group says they wanted to keep their depiction of the ark's originality as much as possible." Also, the music playing inside the ark "was specially made by a music producer in Nashville."

The park will be available to the public on July 7 and will be open for extended hours for the first 40 days and 40 nights, which is the amount of time the Bible states that the flood lasted.

"Here at the ark, we're trying to recreate what the ship might have looked like 4,400 years ago," Mark Looy, Co-founder and CCO for Answers in Genesis, stated to WSMV. He continued stating, "We didn't want to have a lot of technology here - that might make you think you're more in the modern era."

The theme park also has different attractions such as art exhibits, extreme zip lines, and the Ararat Ride Zoo.

The organization responsible for constructing the Ark Encounter states that the Ark is open to all. "The Ark is open to everyone to come and visit regardless of a person's religious affiliation, even if they are agnostic or atheist."
