The long-awaited premiere of Westworld, HBO’s new sci-fi thriller series, pulled in over 3.3 million viewers across all platforms in just one night.

It’s safe to say that HBO has another hit on their hands.

According to Deadline, Westworld holds the title for the the most watched HBO drama series premiere in the combined metric since the debut of True Detective over three years ago. The metric includes viewers watching on the actual cable channel and live streaming on HBOGO and HBO NOW.

The series also took over Twitter for most of this past Sunday evening, with many people asking, “What is up with those flies?”

Bottom line is that audiences were sucked right in to the rather blood-soaked, shocking and somewhat existensial series premiere, which left us with plenty of burning questions and reasons to come back for more next week.

Westworld, (based on the 1973 film of the same name) from Jonathan Nolan, Lisa Joy, and executive produced by J.J. Abrams, is about a hedonistic theme park set in the Wild West in which wealthy visitors can do whatever they please with the park’s hosts – like brutally kill them.

The hosts are life-like androids, created and controlled by Dr. Ford, that have no idea that they are actually robots. That is, until a glitch in a recent AI update changes everything and the hosts start to remember.

The series is already well-reviewed and includes a stellar cast with Thandie Newton, Jeffrey Wright, Jimmi Simpson, Anthony Hopkins, Ed Harris, James Marsden, Evan Rachel Wood and Rodrigo Santoro.

You can catch Westworld on HBO, HBOGO, and HBO NOW Sunday evenings at 9pm EST.
