Summit Entertainment just released the first trailer for the upcoming action-packed thriller Mechanic: Resurrection. The long-awaited trailer finally dropped this morning.

The movie starring Jason Statham, Jessica Alba, and Tommy Lee Jones will be the sequel to 2011 film Mechanic also starring Statham. The 2011 film was a remake of a 1972 movie starring Charles Bronson of the same title.

The plot synopsis provided by Lionsgate stated, “When the deceitful actions of a cunning but beautiful woman (Alba) force him to return to the life he left behind, Bishop’s life is once again in danger as he has to complete an impossible list of assassinations of the most dangerous men in the world.”

The trailer teases explosions, guns, and hand to hand combat all synonymous with a standard Jason Statham movie. There’s also a peak at an intense sequence where Statham is scaling the walls of a skyscraper in order to break a hole in the glass bottom of a pool hanging from the edge of the building.

While the first Mechanic film only earned $29 million domestically, and $62 million worldwide, the studios are hoping to cash in on Statham’s boosted popularity due to his appearances in recent films such as Spy and in the Fast and Furious franchise. Interestingly, Mechanic: Resurrection was in development before either Spy and Fast And Furious 8 even came out.

This is Jason Statham’s first widely released film since Homefront co-starring James Franco, Kate Bosworth, and Winona Ryder that came three years ago. The film barely cracked $20 million domestically, so this fall will determine whether Jason Statham still has the box office draw of that Lionsgate thinks he does.

Look for Mechanic: Resurrection coming to theaters August 26, 2016.
