Tom Hiddleston and San Diego Comic Con were meant for one another. Following the actor’s portrayal of Loki in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, fans fell for his quirky charms. And, now, it is confirmed that Tom will be returning to SDCC this year, but it might not be for what many expect.
Tom will be visiting the convention’s famed Hall H this year as Captain James Conrad of Kong: Skull Island. The film, which is the second installment of Legendary’s Godzilla-Kong film franchise, is a reboot of the classic King Kong films from the early 1930s. So, while Tom might not be decked in Loki’s traditional leather garb, the actor is promising to bolster Warner Bros. star-studded SDCC line-up this year alongside the company’s DC Entertainment reveals.

Kong: Skull Island will feature Tom as the film’s lead with a slew of extraordinary talent supporting him with actors such as Jason Mitchell, Brie Larson, Corey Hawkins, John C. Reilly, and Samuel L. Jackson attached to the film as well. While there is little known about the film’s beyond its casting updates, Tom has said that the film would be a contemporary reimagining of the King Kong myth with the film decidedly set outside of the 1930s. With Jordan Vogt-Roberts directing, Kong: Skull Island is slated for release on March 10th 2017 after filming wraps in Queensland, Australia.
While Tom’s presence is confirmed at SDCC for the Warner Bros. film, fans are secretly hopeful that the actor might pop by Marvel’s presentation for some good fun. With Tom having teased Loki’s final appearance in the MCU might be in Thor: Ragnarok, Loki lovers are desperate to see the actor as much as possible in the months leading up to the threequel’s release. And, as Tom has a charismatic history with SDCC, fans are wondering when and where the actor will say hello to all of his many adoring fans.
Needless to say, it appears as if Tom can do no wrong when it comes to comic con. With his fans rallying behind him, the actor seems to have become the defacto poster boy for the annual geektastic event.
