Space Jam 2 is reportedly in the works with Cleveland Cavaliers Forward LeBron James set to star in movie. However, the star of the original movie, Michael Jordan, prefers a different NBA standout for the lead role: Los Angeles Clippers All-Star Blake Griffin.
While at a basketball camp, Jordan was asked he who would personally prefer to star in the sequel. After pausing for a moment to ponder on his answer, Jordan revealed that he thinks Griffin would be a better fit for the role than LeBron.

His response may be surprising to many, but Griffin is sponsored by Jordan’s brand, so it’s possible “His Airness” may be a tad biased. But after thinking about his answer, Griffin would probably be a great fit as the movie’s star. He can do high-flying monster dunks, and also has impeccable comedic timing. Griffin even told the Hollywood Reporter that he wanted to be in Space Jam 2, so he definitely has interest in the role.

Griffin told THR, “If you told me at 8 years old that I would have an opportunity to maybe be in the second Space Jam movie, my mind would have been blown…That was one of my favorite movies.”
Despite Jordan’s opinions, the upcoming sequel is being funded by LeBron’s production company so he will be the star if he so chooses. Maybe LeBron will listen to Jordan’s opinion considering he is the G.O.A.T. after all.
Who would you like to see take on the lead role in Space Jam 2? Is it LeBron, Griffin, or a maybe a different player?
