‘Making A Murderer’: Steven Avery’s Lawyer Reacts To Brendan Dassey’s Conviction Being Overturned

After Judge William E. Duffin recently overturned Making A Murderer‘s Brendan Dassey‘s murder conviction in a federal court, Steven Avery’s attorney, Kathleen Zellner, shared her reaction to Dassey’s case on social media.

Zellner cheered the judge’s decision to overturn the murder conviction of Brendan Dassey (Avery’s nephew), and even went as far as to say that his confession was fabricated. Dassey’s confession was hugely responsible for convicting both Dassey and Avery in the killing of 25-year-old Teresa Halbach. At the time of the murder, Dassey was 16 years old, and the judge found that Dassey was suffering “from certain intellectual deficits” while being interviewed by the police.

Another tweet from Zellner declared that Avery’s opinion will be even more powerful than Dassey’s. The tweet read: “Brendan’s opinion shows cops made up the crime story. Steven’s will show cops made up crime evidence. @MakingAMurderer @EndInSight”

In the latest tweet from Zellner regarding Dassey’s case, she tweeted the link to a Huffington Post article that illustrates how Dassey’s confession was used to convict Steven Avery. Zellner tweeted: “If you think Dassey’s confession wasn’t used to convict SA think again.” Then she tweeted a link to this article titled, “Theft By Press Conference: Stealing a Defendant’s Presumption of Innocence With Prejudicial Pre-trial Publicity.”
