Derick Dillard just proved that dads aren’t immune to the criticism most moms online face everyday.
The reality star dad shared a picture of his and Jill Duggar’s son Israel mugging for the camera in the backseat of the car, but their eagle-eyed Instagram followers noticed that the boy wasn’t buckled into his car seat correctly.

“Pistols firing! Only 45 days til some OSU cowboy football starts! Go Pokes!” Dillard captioned the sweet snap of his son making hand pistols in celebration.
Fans erupted and it wasn’t because of a football rivalry. People pointed out that the chest buckle had not been adjusted and was sitting too low on the toddler’s torso.
“Good god someone please adjust that child’s chest clip. That’s horrific,” one comment read.
Others defended the parents.
“Anyone who is giving her advice on buckling her child needs to chill. How do you even know the car was moving ? What if she hadn’t tightened it yet or maybe she just loosened it to take him out. You have no clue so keep your comments to yourself,” one person wrote.
Hopefully, that strap was adjusted before they began driving, since we all know the importance of car seat safety, but it seems unlikely that Instagram is where the parents get their safety information.
