Smith was born and raised in West Philadelphia, where he began his career as a rapper during his teenage years. He dropped his first album Rock the House in 1987, then He’s the DJ, I’m the Rapper in 1988. He released several other albums in the 1980s, but it wasn’t until the early 1990s that he began finding roles on the screen.
Perhaps most notably, he starred in The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, an iconic sitcom that propelled his acting career to new heights. In 1990 he starred in the Hollywood hit Bad Boys, which I’m sure we all remember. Of course he’s starred in other amazing films like Independence Day, Men in Black, Ali and most recently Suicide Squad.
He’s also a family man, and has been married to his wife Jada Pinkett Smith since 1997 and has three children: Jaden Smith, Willow Smith and Trey Smith.
Next up on the docket for Smith are the films Collateral Beauty, set to be released in 2016, The American Can, set to be released in 2017, and in 2019 he’s even got Bad Boys 4 coming out.
Happy birthday, Will Smith and thank you for all your entertaining music and movies!
