More than a year after Amanda Knox was exonerated in the murder her British roomate Meredith Kercher, a new Netflix documentary will be bringing the controversial trial back into the spotlight once again.

On Thursday, Knox made an appearance on Good Morning America to promote the documentary. While she was cleared of all charges, many are still of the belief that Knox is guilty of murder.

"I think I'm trying to explain what if feels like to be wrongfully convicted," Knox stated.

The 29-year-old continued, "To either be this terrible monster or to be this regular person who is vulnerable. And what I'm trying to convey is that a regular person like me - a kid who was studying abroad, who loves languages - could be caught up in this nightmare where they're portrayed as something that they're not."

During the interview, GMA host Robin Roberts asked Knox about how she thought the Kercher family would react to the upcoming documentary.

"For them that's never going to end and that's the really sad part about this tragedy," Knox replied.

Knox also commented on how the murder of Meredith Kercher has been a prevalent topic in the media in the past decade, and how she believes that the prosecutor didn't keep the focus on Meredith's death.

"As soon as the prosecutor made this about [me] she's been lost in all of that. But that doesn't change the fact that we have an obligation to everyone who could be innocent to find out the truth."

In her intial trial, Knox spent nearly four years in jail serving a 26 year sentence. The battle in court dragged on for seven and a half years, and Rudy Guede was eventually convicted of Kercher's murder back in 2008.

Other than attending graduate school, Knox's primary focus now is to help others who have been exonerated in court to get their lives back on track, according to Daily Mail.
