Coming to the Audience Network on August 9 is the latest in a long string of Stephen King stories being adapted to TV series, Mr. Mercedes. The latest teaser for the 10-episode show has been released, which showcases the tension that is sure to be prevalent throughout the series. Check out the new teaser below.
Details about the new series have been kept mostly under wraps in the earlier half of the year, but with Spike's The Mist series having premiered back in June, the Audience Network now aims to remind people that it's not the only King series fans will be able to check out this summer. This latest teaser was preceded by a trailer and a featurette released in recent weeks.
In the featurette to promote the show, executive producer/director Jack Bender explained, "I wanted a show that was haunting and beautiful, without being style over substance, because the substance of this show
The director added, "It's Stephen King writing about the monsters inside the people. it gets pretty dark and out there."
In addition to the plethora of series debuting that are inspired by King source material, audiences will also get to see the theatrical adaptation The Dark Tower in August and
Another exciting project in the works that won't begin production until next year is Castle Rock, which takes place in a town created by King in which many of his seminal stories have been set or tangentially connected to.
Based on Stephen King’s 2014 book, Mr. Mercedes follows demented killer Brady Hartsfield, who taunts a retired police detective Bill Hodges with a series of lurid letters and emails, forcing the ex-cop to undertake a private, and potentially felonious, crusade to bring the killer to justice before he is able to strike again.
Brendan Gleeson leads as Detective Bill Hodges, along with Harry Treadaway (Penny Dreadful) as Brady Hartsfield.
Mr. Mercedes will premiere August 9 on AT&T's Audience Network, available through DirecTV.
