Kobe Bryant is hands down one of the greatest basketball players of all-time. He has five championship rings and has worked vigorously at his career in basketball, while also jumping right into his life after basketball with the launch of a $100 million venture capital fund in partnership with Jeff Stibel. So what does one do with such an accomplished human being? We give him his own day of course!
Kobe Bryant Day will be held on August 24th as a way for the city of Los Angeles (and every fan) to say, ‘thank you.’ L.A. City Counsel member Jose Huizar explained to ESPN’s Baxter Holmes why this day has been created:

‘Kobe Bryant Day’ is the City of Los Angeles’ way of thanking him for his single-minded dedication to excellence, the fans and the entire City and region of Los Angeles. For 20 years, we were all the beneficiaries of Kobe’s incredible talent and legendary work ethic, and on 8-24 we’ll gather to say, ‘Thank you, Mamba.’
Bryant deserves this day. And he definitely deserves it because not only is he not stopping with his career, but he’s pivoting (yes, said that) into the completely new field of investing and looking to capitalize, according to the Associated Press and ESPN’s Darren Rovell:
Asked by @carlquintanilla if he would rather be seen as a greater player or investor, Kobe Bryant says…investor.

There’s an entire second half of the book to come with Bryant, and it will be thoroughly engaging to watch him in an entire new arena.
