Is Another Shield Heel Turn in the Works?

A Shield reunion is the most enchanting piece of candy WWE can bait its fans with. In only two weeks of being friendly, Dean Ambrose and Seth Rollins have hoards of fans thinking that Roman Reigns' prodigal return is just right around the corner. It's not. In fact, fans shouldn't even get attached to Ambrose and Rollins being as flirtatious as they have been.

According to reports from IWNerd.com and the Inquisitor, The Lunatic Fringe may be joining WWE's dark side.

Up Next: Dean Ambrose Says He Makes More Money Without the Shield

For the past two RAW's Ambrose and his former Shield brother, Seth Rollins has shared significant camera time. They've taken turns saving one another from the nefarious Miztourage and have even shared some agreeable backstage dialogue. Even further, their common enemy, the Miz has become such an issue that Kurt Angle created a match to solve the conflict. However, it's a two on three handicap match, one that Dean Ambrose explicitly asked for.

But, don't get geared up for Ambrose to turn next week, this story will have to wait until we're all a little closer to SummerSlam.

For Dean Ambrose, though, this heel turn can't come soon enough.

After spending nearly a calendar year feuding and losing to the Miz on both RAW and SmackDown, Dean Ambrose has lost his footing on the WWE roster. He's taken his character to its threshold and actually won a WWE Championship. Ever since, it feels like he's merely been treading water.

So instead of giving us Dean vs. Bray Wyatt XVIII, it's time to change Ambrose's character, not his dancing partner. The chemistry has already been laid out - Seth Rollins is trying his best to be a babyface, and frankly, it's just going okay. What Rollins needs is a significant moment of empathy. A ruthless attack by his new-old pal would do just that. For Ambrose, knocking of Rollins would shoot him nearly to the moon.

Think about every fan that's clamoring for a Shield reunion. Just the fact that Ambrose and Rollins have been nice to one another over the past weeks has diehards on the verge of tears. WWE should have them win a few matches together, hell, have them win the Tag Team Championships. Then when the hook is buried deep within fans' hearts, Dean Ambrose yanks it out.

WWE is doing a good job of keeping this subtle, but the signs are there. We all now that Dean has the motivation for revenge, but when Rollins asked him to exact it last week with a steel chair, he didn't - that's called a tease. Because we're getting the real thing, probably sooner than later.

Be on the look out for strange behavior this Monday during the handicap match. While it would be early for WWE to pull this trigger, maybe they want a Rollins/Ambrose blood match for SummerSlam. Either way, this makes RAW a compelling watch.
