Less than a week after Virginia Madsen announced her departure from Designated Survivor, ABC has brought in another political figure for President Tom Kirkman (Kiefer Sutherland) to deal with.

According to Deadline, former Royal Pains star Paulo Constanzo has been added to the second season of ABC's breakout hit as a series regular.

The Voice Season 13 Sneak Peek Released

The report states that Costanzo has been brought on to play Lyor Boone, the new White House Political Director. The whiz kid was brought in by Emily to help President Kirkman with his political strategy. Unfortunately, the newly-appointed president doesn't think too highly of Lyor.

Kirkman knows that he needs a different strategy, but he doesn't trust the sly and sneaky ways of his new director.

Once Upon A Time Season 7 Details Revealed

This new partnership could be great for Kirkman, who's still trying desperately to gain the love and respect of the country. However, Lyor could also turn out to be a thorn in the president's side.

While Costanzo is well-known for his role as Evan R. Lawson in Royal Pains, he's also participated in some other highly-celebrated series, such as The Expanse and The Good Fight. The actor was most recently seen in HBO's The Night Of.

Designated Survivor will be returning to ABC with its second season this fall.
