Chicago P.D. may be down one of its best detectives, but it looks like her replacement has finally been found.

Tracy Sipiradakos, who played Detective Hailey Upton in Season 4, has been promoted to series regular for the next installment.

TVLine reports that Upton's role in Voight's unit has earned a permanent status. This guarantees that at least one of the stars of Season 5 will still be female.

Sophia Bush starred in the first four seasons of Chicago P.D. as Detective Erin Lindsay. While the character was a favorite among the fans, Bush declined to return to the series for the fifth season. This left the team, and the show, without a female star. Luckily, Sipiradakos was around to fill the void.

Detective Upton first appeared on Chicago P.D. this past May as a member of the robbery homicide unit. She often clashed with Voight, as most do, but eventually gained his respect. She was given a spot on his unit while Burgess was out on a leave of absence.

With this new announcement, it's clear that Upton isn't going anywhere.

Sipiradakos isn't the only series regular being added to Chicago P.D. in Season 5. After Chicago Justice was cancelled, it was announced that Jon Seda would be returning to his original position.

The fifth Season of Chicago P.D. is set to premiere on Wednesday, September 27 on NBC.
