The series, set in Los Angeles in the '80s, follows struggling actress Los Angeles in the '80s, follows struggling actress Ruth Wilder (Alison Brie) who auditions for GLOW, or Gorgeous Ladies of Wrestling. A fictionalized account of actual events, the show was inspired by the real-life wrestling league and its accompanying TV show.
GLOW was created by Liz Flahive and Carly Mensch, Variety reports. Jenji Kohan, showrunner for Orange Is the New Black, serves as executive producer alongside Tara Herrmann, Flahive and Mensch. Flahive and Mensch also serve as showrunners for the comedy.
