Kim Kardashian is backtracking on the remarks she made in defense of makeup artist Jeffree Star, who has come under fire in the past for racist incidents. The Keeping Up With The Kardashians star took to Snapchat on Tuesday afternoon to address the issue.

"I really wanted to apologize to you guys and my fans, for defending a situation yesterday that I really didn't know enough about. I just feel a bit naive, and I do want to really apologize for me feeling like I had the right to say 'get over it' in a situation that involves racism," the 36-year-old social media mogul said.

The interaction between Kardashian and Star was ignited after the makeup artist criticized her swatch skills. Star took to Twitter to bash her for her swatches, and the E! star's fans blasted him in retaliation.

The wife of Kanye West then defended Star to her fans saying that he was allowed to share his honest feedback. Kardashian then received backlash from social media for defending Star, who was involved in racist videos from 12 years ago, for which he has since apologized.

"I get it's a serious deal if you say racial things, but I do believe in people changing, and people that apologize, I will give them the benefit of the doubt," Kim said on Snapchat. "I know better than anyone that I hate when people bring up my past or mistakes I've made in the past. So let him live."

The mother of three continued by saying: "I want to make one last thing clear, I do not defend people that are racist and I am very against it. But if someone claims that they have changed, I would love to give them the benefit of the doubt, and I pray to God that they do change for the sake of my children and my friends."

After Star initially criticized her swatches, Kardashian took to her Instagram story to release an expletive-filled rant. Learn more here.
