Possible Spoiler for SummerSlam's Universal Championship Match

After last night, it looks like WWE will have to pick between Samoa Joe or Roman Reigns to fight for the Universal Championship at SummerSlam. However, there may be a way WWE can choose them both.

According to Sportskeeda, this has been the plan for months now. However, the participants have changed. Per Sportskeeda's source, the original plan was to have Lesnar defend against Braun Strowman, Seth Rollins and Finn Balor. But now, Rollins and Balor have been swapped out for Joe and Reigns.

Up Next: What You Missed From RAW Last Night

On RAW last night, Kurt Angle created a number one contender match between Joe and Reigns for next week's episode. However, it seems hard to believe that Strowman won't get involved in some fashion — he's got a near biblical amount of incentive.

For those that missed it, at Great Balls of Fire, Reigns did his best to rid the WWE of Strowman permanently. The Big Dog locked Strowman into the back of an ambulance and sent the vehicle into reverse, plunging it into a concrete wall. Needless to say, it was pretty dramatic.

Strowman was absent from RAW for a number of reasons — to "heal" from his extensive on-camera injuries and to keep us on the edge of our seats. We know when he comes back, there will be hell to pay.

We still aren't sure if WWE successfully pulled off the mythical double switch, where Reigns goes full heel and Strowman pure babyface, and we won't truly know until their next interaction. That won't keep us from guessing — when Strowman returns, it will be colossal.

If it's next week, we can logically assume that he will cost Reigns his Universal Title shot. Then, a week later, Reigns will make his case for being robbed. Paul Heyman will say that Joe doesn't deserve a rematch and Kurt Angle will only have one option: Let these titans settle it at SummerSlam in a Fatal Four Way.

That would make for quite the old school showcase of monsters that made WWE what it is today. There may not be enough canvass in the ring to support a match between those four behemoths. With this looking to be the case, it does take a bit of the drama out of next week's big RAW match, but it will be worth it — because if this turns out to be the case for SummerSlam, there is no clear favorite. And when we have to resort to guessing, that's when wrestling is at its finest.
