WWE's Hottest and Coldest Wrestlers This Week

This was arguably WWE's best week since WrestleMania. Great Balls of Fire was a smashing success, RAW was dynamite, and SmackDown was snooze-worthy, but hey 2/3 is a great percentage in any game (except marriage).

RAW looks to have finally woken up after sleeping through most of May and June. With SummerSlam officially looming, Monday nights will look to keep up this torrid pace. Sadly it looks like SmackDown will be left jogging in place en route to WWE's summer extravaganza. Barring a surprisingly good Battleground, there isn't much in place for the Blue Brand to best RAW at SummerSlam.

But let's not get too far ahead, we're talking about this week and this week only. With Great Balls and RAW being so fantastic, there's plenty of options to chose from when it comes to the Hottest Wrestler of the Week. Is it Brock Lesnar? He retained his Universal Championship and actaully got to speak words into a live microphone! Could it be Roman Reigns? He nearly slayed a beast, back in the day, he'd have his choice of any maiden of the land, but for now he'll have to settle for being up for this weekly award.

What about the Coldest Wrestler of the Week? Thankfully for fans, there wasn't much to choose from. We could make a case for R-Truth, but to be cold you have to have once been hot, and this week's Coldest Wrestler used to be the hottest in WWE:

I don't care if you're 1998 Bill Goldberg, losing 2 matches in 2 days to Bray Wyatt will at least put you in contention for the Coldest Wrestler of the Week. But when one is at a pay-per-view and the other is in RAW's main event, then the decision was all but taken out of our hands. This Week's Coldest Wrestler is none other than Seth Rollins.

Since returning from injury, The Kingslayer has had an awkward go at regaining his old championship footing. Stuck in poorly timed babyface run, Rollins just can't seem to hit his stride. I can't help but think his temporary funk is rooted in his lack of finishing maneuver. His knee thing looks more like a dance move gone wrong than a signal that match is about to be over.

However, I'm confident Rollins won't be the Coldest Wrestler for a while as it looks like he's entering an Intercontinental program with The Miz. For Rollins, this is a fantastic opportunity to unleash his best babyface character. Working with the best heel in WWE is bound to get some cheers. Good luck Kingslayer, hopefully, this is the last time I have to put you in the freezer.

This Week's Hottest Wrestler

Anytime someone out talks Paul Heyman or carries better timing that Kurt Angle, they'll at least be nominated for Hottest Wrestler of the Week. But if they do it in the same segment where they outshine both Brock Lesnar and Roman Reigns it's a lead pipe lock. This Week's Hottest Wrestler is Samoa Joe.

We're setting the precedent early here; being the Week's Hottest Wrestler is not about winning matches. If that's the case, we would have chosen Asuka from NXT, who literally never loses. But Samoa Joe didn't simply lose his match against Brock Lesnar at Great Balls of Fire. No, he made an impression, one that WWE looks to be rolling with.

Joe just didn't steal the segment from 4 Hall of Famers on Monday, he left with a number one contender match against current fugitive, Roman Reigns. Joe's arrival to the main event should be a feel good story, but that's not what the Samoan Submission Machine is after. He wants championships. And after he beats Reigns on Monday he'll be one step closer.
