Did WWE Release Primo And Epico?

Hopefully, The Shining Stars still have a good amount of property available in Puerto Rico.

GiveMeSport is speculating that the WWE may have released the team after a fan pointed out that Pro Wrestling Tees has released a Orlando Colon tee shirt on their site.

The tweet caused a stir due to the fact that Orlando Colon is the real name for Epico Colon and (for obvious reasons) current WWE stars are only allowed to sell merch through WWE.com.

Primo and Epico have been with the WWE off and on since 2011. Part of the legendary Colon family, the group debuted in 2011 and would win the World Tag Team Championships soon thereafter against the team of Air Boom (Kofi Kingston and Evan Bourne). They would be rebranded as Los Matadores (a Conquistadors rip) in 2013 and be viewed as nothing more than glorified jobbers. In 2016, Primo and Epico would ditch the masks for the gimmick that had even less legs; that of Puerto Rican travel agents ... I think.

The Superstar Shakedown seemed to give the duo new life as they ditched the flower print shirts for a more gritty, urban look and debuted on SmackDown by taking out former champs, American Alpha. The wrestling world seemed excited about their new direction, but WWE has not had the time or seemingly, the desire to put any effort into giving them more to do in the already crowded SmackDown tag team division.

If the Colons are released it could be a breath of fresh air for their wrestling career. Their cousin, Carlito, was a former Intercontinental Champion who left the WWE in 2010 and has made a good life for himself on the independent circuit, even branching out into the world of acting. Carlito recently had a part (as a wrestler) in Netflix's latest hit, GLOW.

Whether WWE has released The Colons or not, its clear they have yet to find a way to properly use the talented duo.
