Finn Balor Discusses The Future Of The Bullet Club In WWE

Finn Balor recently sat down with Sports Illustrated Now prior to his first ever appearance at Madison Square Garden last Friday. The first ever Universal Champion talked about his long-awaited arrival to WWE and his prolific career in Japan.

When Balor was in New Japan Pro Wrestling, he and WWE's Karl Anderson were original members of the illustrious Bullet Club. The infamous stable is still active today, and Sports Illustrated wanted to know if it could ever arrive in WWE.

"You know, for us as a group, especially myself and Karl, you know, two of the original members, that was you know, very, it was very much like a moment in time. You know, to kind of like reform that now would be kind of like regressing like in our careers, maybe, so to speak. Maybe going forward in the future that could be a possibility but right now I think we're both, you know, pretty happy doing our own thing."

As successful as the Bullet Club has been, Balor is right in thinking that it's best left out of WWE. Not only because it would look like a cheap imitation of something WWE never created, but as Balor mentioned, it would be a poor career move to go backward. Even though there's a collection of hardcore fans who have been and will always clamor for a Bullet Club reunion it will never happen on WWE soil.

But that doesn't mean that Balor couldn't join a group with his former Bullet Club alumni. Luke Gallows and AJ Styles are both former Bullet Club members how have made the jump to WWE. With 4 potential members, WWE could conceivably create some kind of spin-off group of the Bullet Club.

As of today, though, WWE has shown little interest in forming a New Japan inspired group. AJ Styles has proven to be ludicrously successful as a solo act and it appears the WWE is invested in Balor becoming a singles main eventer.

Speaking of, Balor's main event push seems to have stalled. However, it may not be for lack of performance, as much as it is circumstance. WWE's main event it currently filled with monsters: Braun Strowman, Roman Reigns, Brock Lesnar and Samoa Joe. At 190 lbs, Balor is simply in a different class than that list of men.

For Balor fans, patience is the mantra. He'll likely find himself back in the main event fray, but it just may not be until 2018.
