WWE Buy or Sell: The Intercontinental Championship vs. The United States Championship

08/31/2017 06:03 pm EDT

It's a weird time to be own a secondary WWE title. Both the Intercontinental Title and US Championship have done little more than rest on their owner's shoulders for several weeks now.

The Miz's title has been overshadowed by dancing bears, martial problems and horrifically bad segments featuring LaVar Ball. As good as the Miz is, having Maryse around really helps us hate him. Do we really believe that Curtis Axel and Bo Dallas are viable replacements for the Miz?

We’re keeping our fingers crossed that WWE tapes an angle where Maryse kicks the Miz out of their Hollywood home forcing the Intercontinental Champion to sleep over at the Axel and Dallas’ grody apartment.

For Kevin Owens and the United States Championship, they had to defer to the men's Money in the Bank match for a few weeks. But things look they'll be rebounding next week as SmackDown has promised us an Independence Day Battle Royal to find the belt's next contender. SmackDown has a lot of interesting options to consider here, so we can expect better days ahead for the US Title.

In terms of performance, both the US and IC belts hover around the same level. Really if anyone but the Miz was champion, the two belts would look identical chart - he has certainly made that HIS title.

For us to really get invested in these title scenes all we really need is some good competition. Mis and Ambrose feel like they've been fighting over that belt since The Gulf War. For the sake of the title and its value, we can hope they go their separate ways after the Great Balls of Fire PPV.

If these belts were stocks, the smart play would be to sink your money into Miz and his IC title. That's not to say the US title is worthless, it just needs to be a little more featured. We're a long way from John Cena's US Championship Open Challenge.

Verdict:

Buy: Intercontinental

Hold: US Championship

Sell: Maryse and Miz splitting.
