Is WWE Breaking Up American Alpha?

Could the WWE be breaking up one of their most promising tag teams? For the second week in a row, Chad Gable has been wrestling in solo action on SmackDown Live, leading many to wonder if the WWE had given up on American Alpha as a team. The two have hardly been seen in tag team action since losing their Championships to The Usos earlier this year.

WWE clearly understood the implications of having Gable in singles action against Kevin Owens and AJ Styles as they posted a video to their YouTube page titled, "Is Chad Gable Going Solo?" Gable says that Alpha has been pushed to the back of the line as a team, but that they were still looking for competition in the meantime.

"We thrive on competition, that's who American Alpha is. We want competition. We had our run with the titles. There are other guys in the hunt right now and we got kind of pushed to the back of the line. However that works, that's fine. All we want is competition in the meantime. Jason knows it, I know it, we support each other 100-percent, and we're good. Wait until Jason gets his chance — he's going to show the exact same thing I did. We can hang with any single guy on this roster, not just any tag team like we've proven, any single guy"

After the match with Styles, Gable took to Twitter to praise his opponent and look towards the future.

With SmackDown Live only being two hours long, its been hard for WWE to get all of their talent in the mix each and every week. The tag division has suffered the most from the lack of time with The Usos and New Day taking up the majority of the division's screen time and Breezango getting the rest of the time with their Fashion Files skits.

It appears as if SmackDown Live could be losing another one of its tag teams as tensions continue to rise between Mojo Rawley and Zack Ryder. Mojo tossed Ryder over the ropes during the Independence Day battle royal, adding another layer to the soon to be break-up of the Hype Bros.

If WWE can't find a way to book teams who are not in the title hunt, then they may as well break them up to build up singles stars.
