WWE Releases Statement on Racial Slur From Last Night's RAW

Last night, Lavar Ball and his two sons, LA Laker Lonzo Ball, and future cruiserweight, LaMelo Ball made their highly anticipated appearances on WWE cameras.

Despite LaVar undressing and running laps around the ring, he's not the member of the Ball family everyone is talking about today.

For some reason, all of the Balls were given live microphones. When it looked like LaVar and The Miz might get physical the segment reached its peak. Dean Ambrose came out and the excitement continued to build. And it was too much for young LaMelo.

"Beat that n***** ass! Beat that n***** ass!" screamed the youngest Ball.

At first, it sounded like harmless squawking but the watchdog that is social media armed with the power of DVR sniffed out the poor use of English.

Naturally, it exploded.

WWE did its best to get out in front of the controversy and put distance between themselves and the language of a 15-year-old.

"The inappropriate language used by a guest during the 'Miz TV' segment was not scripted nor reflects WWE's values," WWE said in a statement to The Los Angeles Times.

Unfortunately, WWE has practice when it comes to PR and racial slurs. In 2015 WWE had to excommunicate Hulk Hogan for egregious abuse of the "N" word. He has yet to return to WWE television.

So for LaMelo ball, who's certainly not Hulk Hogan, we can expect a lifetime ban. And considering how strange the entire Ball segment was, don't expect WWE to extend and invitation their way ever again.

The Ball's appearance was more or less a disaster, one that WWE, ironically will likely profit from. For Lavar and his family, it may be a different story. A generous portion of America already has a negative opinion of LaVar and last night is only going to reinforce that.
