Kurt Angle Hints at Return to WWE Ring

Are we close to seeing Kurt Angle compete in a WWE ring once again?

In an interview with Esquire, the Olympic Gold Medalist riffed on subjects like his favorite match, the current WWE superstar he'd love to wrestle and his kids wanting to see him fight.

When asked about a return to in-ring action, Angle was surprisingly transparent:

"Well right now I'm just concentrating on my behind-the-scenes role as General Manager. I haven't even had a physical yet and I don't expect I will have one until they [the WWE] have some more detail of what they want me to do down the line. But is there a possibility? Yeah, there is a definite possibility! I think it's more than likely it will happen. I don't know if it has to do with this new storyline that's going on right now, but I'm sure that it will happen eventually. I still haven't taken a physical though so I'm not going to get my hopes up until I do that."

If that weren't enough, Angle has an emotional incentive to hop back in the ring one more time:

"Well I have three little ones who have actually never seen me wrestle - a 6-year-old, a 4-year-old, and a 7-month-old – so I've always wanted to return for them. I want to show them what daddy can really do."

Judging by this interview, the only things that can stop Angle's return is a physical and timing. Rumors have him in the ring as soon as SummerSlam if not Survivor Series. It feels like this is happening. How will WWE integrate him into a storyline?

Angle is currently in an on-screen story with Corey Graves who is getting secretive, ominous texts that are threatening Angle's career. Whoever the texts are coming from, it's certainly an authority figure. Common logic has Triple H being the culprit.

It's too early to tell if Angle vs. Triple H is what WWE is cooking up, but we'll know soon enough. Angle's return as RAW GM has been warmly recieved by fans, so the thought of Angle getting back in action may set them on fire. We'll know more as the weeks past, but don't expect too much development on Angle's storyline until after the Great Balls of Fire PPV.
