'Young Sheldon' Star Says He's Getting Plenty of Advice from Jim Parsons

Is there a young actor in Hollywood in a better scenario than Iain Armitage?

The child star was cast as 9-year-old Sheldon Cooper in the Big Bang Theory spin-off series Young Sheldon, giving him an instantly recognizable role. On top of that, it looks like the job has landed him an incredible mentor.

While speaking with TV Guide, Armitage revealed that Sheldon Cooper himself, actor/producer Jim Parsons, has taken the young boy under his wing.

"He's really fun to be around and he makes anyone happy," Armitage said of Parsons.

The four-time Emmy winner has been teaching the child star how exactly to become Sheldon through plenty of acting lessons. Parsons is often on the Young Sheldon set, serving as producer and narrator, so he's able to guide the talents of Armitage.

"Advice can be 'maybe we could say this line differently' to 'let's play this scene a whole different emotion,'" Armitage explained.

It looks like Parsons is really putting a lot of care into this spin-off series. Having played Sheldon for the last ten years, he wants to make sure the character is portrayed the right way. By spending extra time with Armitage, Parsons can assure that the new series is exactly what fans are hoping it will be.

Young Sheldon premieres on Monday, September 25 at 8:30 p.m. on CBS.
