Was the Entire 'Friends' Series Just a Dream in Rachel's Head?

Every great TV show has a ton of exciting fan theories, and Friends is no exception. Now, 13 years after the series finale, a new idea about Rachel is gaining some traction.

There are a group of fans out there that believe the events of Friends never actually happened, and that the entire series was Rachel's anxiety dream.

Conversation started when someone pointed out the cover of the Season 4 DVD box set. All of the characters from the show are cuddled up in bed. With the exception of Rachel Greene (Jennifer Aniston), every character's eyes are closed. Why would only Rachel's eyes be open?

This is where some fans entered with the theory that Rachel was the only one who truly existed since this was all a fantasy in her head.

As one fan on Twitter pointed out, Rachel had a lot of anxiety when the series began. This is where the entire theory finds its footing.

If you recall, the first episode of Friends started with Rachel running into the other characters in the coffee shop. She was still wearing her wedding dress because she fled the ceremony, leaving Barry at the altar.

As the series unfolded, we learned that Rachel didn't want to marry Barry because of the dull future he would have provided. This is why the characters on Friends were always having ton of fun and embarking on wild adventures.

This is the life that Rachel wanted for herself, but knew that she could never have with Barry.
