Comedy lost one of its great talents on Wednesday as Charlie Murphy died after a secret battle with leukemia.
Twitter erupted with condolences concerning the 57-year-old standup comic and actor, and some went to Murphy’s tweets to see if there was any indication he knew what was coming.

Murphy was known for posting numerous inspirational quotes, usually with the themes of “Rise & Grind” to start the day and “One to Sleep On” to end the day with reflection.
While Murphy kept his diagnosis secret to the public, his final posts have a sense of eeriness to them.
In his final tweet posted the night before his death, the late comedian talks about letting go and finding solace.

Murphy, who was the brother of Eddie Murphy, was a respected figure in comedy. From his supporting roles, to his voice work to his writing credits, he was extremely beloved.
It’s easy to see why friends and followers went to Murphy’s own words to kind comfort during this trying time. Most had no idea he was even sick.

Murphy is most well-known for his “Charlie Murphy’s True Hollywood Stories” segment on Chappelle’s Show.
In the skits, he would recount actual encounters with celebrities he had in ’80s while accompanying his brother Eddie. His most hilarious ones involved encounters with Prince and Rick James.

His work also extended to voice roles. He had notable parts in series including The Boondocks and Black Dynamite. He also voiced a character in Norbit, the comedy he wrote and starred his brother.
He was currently on tour with the Comedy Get Down Tour, which also featured George Lopez, D.L. Hughley, Cedric the Entertainer. Lopez was one of many celebrities to mourn Murphy’s loss on social media after the news broke.
