Christopher Nolan Endorses Tom Hardy as James Bond

If Christopher Nolan takes on the James Bond franchise, it looks like he has a leading man in mind.

While promoting his new war-epic Dunkirk, the Dark Knight director stopped by the "Happy Sad Confused" podcast to speak with Josh Horowitz. Nolan was asked about the prospect of Tom Hardy playing James Bond after Daniel Craig, and he was all about the idea.

Cristopher Nolan on the Possibility of Directing James Bond

"He'd be amazing," Nolan said. "He really would."

While this isn't any kind of solid reveal or confirmation that there's interest between Hardy and the studio, there are a lot of factors working in the favor of this concept.

First of all, fans want Hardy to take over the Bond mantle if and when Daniel Craig departs. His popularity in the action genre is nearly unparalleled and many believe that he would fit the perfectly.

Secondly, there aren't many actors — if any at all — that have a report with Nolan like Hardy does. If Nolan takes over the Bond franchise, it would be easy to think that Hardy would be one of his first options. The two have worked together numerous times, with Hardy acting under Nolan in The Dark Knight Rises, Inception, and Dunkirk.

Later on in the podcast, Nolan admitted to having interest in taking on the next Bond film. If that's the case, all eyes will immediately turn to Tom Hardy.
