Christopher Nolan Would 'Definitely' Direct A James Bond Film

One of the much speculated about elements of the 007 franchise is who will take the reins if Skyfall and Spectre director Sam Mendes decides not to do another one. Well, it sounds like Dark Knight Trilogy director Christopher Nolan is throwing his hat into the ring.

It's been revealed that, in an upcoming interview with Playboy magazine, Nolan is asked if he is "still tempted by the prospect" of directing a James Bond film. He replies, "A Bond movie, definitely.

Nolan goes on to say, "I've spoken to the producers Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson over the years. I deeply love the character and I'm always excited to see what they do with it."

He then clarifies that there are no concrete plans for him to step in at the moment, explaining, "Maybe one day that would work out. You'd have to be needed, if you know what I mean. It has to need reinvention; it has to need you. And they are getting along well."

So while there it no certainty of a Nolan-helmed Bond film in the near future, it's at least good news that he's very interested.

Next up for the English director is Dunkirk, a WW2 film that revolves around the true story of the Dunkirk evacuation.

A synopsis of the film is as follows: "Allied soldiers from Britain, Belgium, Canada, and France are surrounded by the German Army on the beaches of Dunkirk and evacuated in Operation Dynamo between 26 May and 4 June 1940, during the early stages of the Second World War."

Dunkirk debuts in theaters on July 21st.
