While many celebrities are brave enough to rock a daring hair color, there is hardly a more bold move than completely shaving one's head. A handful of female stars have decided to totally buzz their heads and some are still sporting a closely cropped look.
In many cases, the Hollywood stars zipped their hairdo for a film role. In others, the decision was to simply get a fresh start. Check out some of the female celebs that have buzzed their heads below.
First up...Cara Delevingne.
The 24-year-old supermodel first shaved her head for a part in the film Life in a Year.
During an interview with Glamour, Delevingne said that shaving her hair off made her feel "like people read my mind more. I feel like people see my thoughts."
Delevingne said that she was told up front that buzzing her head was going to be requested of her before taking on the role in the Life in a Year.
"Before I even got the project, I said to the director, 'I want to shave my head for it,'" she said. "My agents and managers were like, 'Please don't! Why would you do that?'"
She continued by saying: "When it's a part like that, especially when it's about cancer. I needed to feel what it would be like to have no hair. The way you look, I think, it's so important to feel beautiful, no matter if you have hair. It doesn't matter at all."

Millie Bobby Brown
When being offered the part, Brown said that she didn't know it would require her to shave her head.
"They [the show's creators, the Duffer Brothers] were very clever," she said during an interview with Elle.
"I got the call back and then I did a Skype meeting and there was nothing at all about head shaving! And then we flew over to L.A., and they were like, 'Are you ready?' And I was like, 'For what?' And I was next to Finn [Wolfhard, who plays Mike Wheeler], and Ross Duffer comes up to me and puts his hand out and goes, 'Bzzzzzzzzz.' And my mom's like, 'No! That's not happening.' And I was like, 'Mom. You need to chill out; it's gonna grow back.' My mom was against it. And me and my dad were like, 'Come on. It's fine!'"
Lupita Nyong'o, who won an Oscar for her performance in 12 Years a Slave, completely shaved her head on a "whim."
"Almost on a whim, I was like, 'What if I didn't have it?' And so I shaved it all off – I was a complete baldy!" she said while speaking with InStyle.
"It was shocking at first, especially for my mom. But I learned to embrace my features. And I like myself a lot more now that I'm not constantly fussing over my hair."
At the end of July, How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days star Kate Hudson debuted a new buzz cut look on social media.
The 38-year-old actress trimmed her hair down for a role in Freedom, which is being directed by pop superstar Sia.
Since cutting her hair, Hudson has shared a handful of pics on social media to give her followers a glimpse at the new look.
Kristen Stewart jumped in on the celebrity trend of rocking a buzz cut earlier this year. She says that the decision was about more than just making a fashion statement.
"It's practical," she said while speaking to Us Weekly. Stewart also mentioned that it would be easier to manage while filming the William Eubank film Underwater.
"I've been wanting to do this for a long time, just for novel sake," she said. "It feels amazing. I just want to head-bang all day."
Since her rise to fame, Amber Rose has been known to have a shaved head. While she proudly rocks a buzz cut now, the social media starlet didn't always dig the look.
"After I shaved it, I cried for a few days, until I realized it looked dope," she said, according to the New York Post.
Rose points to singers Sinead O'Connor and Eve as the inspiration for her cut.
"I was inspired by her. And I grew up in Philly... Eve was really popular, and my friends said, 'Please don't do it, Amber, you're gonna look crazy.' And, of course, me being me, I rebelled against everyone and went straight down the middle at a barber shop. Fourteen years later, I still have it," she said talking to Oxygen.
Charlize Theron says that it was her idea to shave her head for her role in the 2012 Academy Award-winning film Mad Max.
"I had just finished two press tours and my hair was destroyed from heat damage, so I was glad to get rid of it," Theron said at the time.
"I was also a new mom and just loved the idea of not having to style my hair every morning. The timing was perfect."
"Roar" songstress Katy Perry unveiled her blond buzz cut in April of this year. When she cut her hair, she didn't initially intend to cause shock and surprise.
"I did it about a month and some change ago," she said during an appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show.
"I don't know if you've ever dyed your hair blond, and too blond, sometimes your hair falls out when you go too blond. So, this is the way I handled it."
