Kate Middleton Reveals Prince George's Nickname for the Queen

Pretty much every child has a nickname for their grandparents, and it appears the royal family is no different.

Speaking to ITV for a special last April to mark Queen Elizabeth's 90th birthday, the Duchess of Cambridge revealed the name her 3-year-old son, Prince George, has for his grandmother.

"George is only two-and-a-half and he calls her Gan-Gan," the Duchess said, according to Redbook.

"She always leaves a little gift or something in their room when we go and stay and that just shows her love for the family," she added.

According to the Daily Mail, George's nickname for his grandmother is slightly more conventional then what his father used to call the Queen, with high society gossip columnist Richard Kay saying that Prince William used to call the Queen "Gary" when he was younger after finding it difficult to pronounce "Granny."

When William was young, he reportedly fell at Buckingham Palace and called for "Gary." A guest who stepped in to help asked who that was, with the Queen revealing it was her nickname.

"'I'm Gary," she said. "He hasn't learned to say Granny yet."
