'Scream' Season 3 Gains Tyga and C.J. Wallace

The upcoming third season of MTV's Scream TV series will undergo a reboot, replacing all original cast members and potentially taking on a new anthology format. The two latest additions to the cast are Tyga and C.J. Wallace, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Based on the Wes Craven series of films, the Scream series has aired two seasons and one feature-length special, with a new creative team being tapped for the new season. As opposed to weekly installments, the six-episode season will be presented in a "binge model" over the course of three nights.

Much like the original film, the plot of the first seasons of Scream focused on a series of grisly murders with teens becoming the victims, somehow circling around one main character. As the series explored why these murders were happening, the main character's connection to the past soon became clear, explaining exactly who it is that seeks vengeance.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the new season "revolves around Deion Elliot, a local star running back whose tragic past comes back to haunt him at the worst time, threatening his hard-earned plans for his future — and the lives of his unlikely group of friends."

Tyga will be playing Deion's step-brother Jamal, who "despite hanging out with a rough crowd, he's got a big heart and an undying loyalty to Deion." Having previously been featured in Logan and Fighting, this marks his first series-starring role.

Wallace, who is the son of rapper Notorious B.I.G. and Faith Evans, plays Amir, who "is a good kid whose strict parents expect him to keep clean during high school, stay away from girls and ultimately find his place within the family business. Amir is a socially awkward savant who dreams of making music one day, an ambition he must stifle and keep to himself. But when events make him the unexpected target of a killer, Amir finds himself in over his head and his world view challenged. Facing death makes Amir reconsider what he wants for his life and the lengths he's willing to go to find his identity and chase his dreams — should he survive."

Brett Matthews (The Vampire Diaries, Supernatural) will be the season's showrunner, joining the previously announced executive producer Queen Latifah.

The new season is slated to air sometime in March.
