Mahershala Ali Confirmed to Star in Season 3 of ‘True Detective’

A third season of HBO's Emmy-winning crime anthology is finally in the works and the network today confirmed that Academy Award winning actor, Mahershala Ali of Moonlight is set to star.

HBO confirmed the news during the Television Critics Association summer press tour on Wednesday, saying they read "five scripts for the third season" and are "impressed."
President of HBO Programming, Casey Bloys told reporters, including Deadline, "They're terrific… I'm very excited about what I've read."
The show's esteemed creator Nic Pizzolatto has already been working on scripts for a possible third season, while getting a helping hand from Deadwood creator David Milch.

While the show is coming to form, it might be a while until we see a new season as the last season aired nearly two years ago.
Ali, is hot off his Oscar-winning turn as drug dealer Juan in last year's award-winning Moonlight, and has had recent roles in Luke Cage and House of Cards.
