Moonlight has won the Golden Globe Award for Best Motion Picture Drama at the 74th Golden Globe Awards.

The film faced stiff competition, going up against Hell or High Water, Lion, Manchester By The Sea, and Hacksaw Ridge.


While accepting the award, the filmmakers emphasized the power of the story of a young man struggling with his sexual identity throughout different phases of his life and asked that for anyone who connected with it to "tell a friend, tell a friend, tell a friend."
