'Game of Thrones' Premiere Crashes HBO Website

While The Wall may have held off the hordes for centuries, HBO's website couldn't match its success.

During the Season 7 premiere of Game of Thrones on Sunday, HBO.com went down for much of the episode. Anyone who attempted to visit the site was met with an error message telling them that there was a problem loading the page.

Luckily, the problem didn't last for the entire episode. The site returned to working order during the second half of the premiere.

In addition to the crash of the main HBO site, one of the network's streaming services was also down. HBO NOW, which releases episodes of every HBO series as they air on TV, also experienced difficulties handling the demands of the night.

Game of Thrones Easter Egg Calls Back to Season 1

Some users on the NOW app were met with a loading bar, and the viewers were complaining about slow buffering times. This wasn't true for all users though, as many took to social media to reveal that their app was working just fine.

Like the main site, HBO NOW had solved the majority of the issues facing the app by the second half of the episode.

HBO NOW suffered similar outages when Game of Thrones was last on the air. 'Battle of the Bastards', the penultimate episode of Season 6, was also met with multiple reports of crashing.

New episodes of Game of Thrones will continue to air Sunday nights at 9pm ET on HBO.
