Deadline reports that Williamson is set reprise the role he first starred in for the show's 20th episode in the fourth season. Audiences might recall in that episode, Voight (Jason Beghe) dug back into an old case under the eye of his former partner, played by Williamson.
The show has seen several changes since the finale this past spring. Chicago P.D. is entering its milestone fifth season with a new showrunner found in Rick Eid, known for The Guardian and Law & Order; its leading lady, Sophia Bush left, and one of its male leads, Jon Seda will be back after a brief departure to co-star on the spinoff series, Chicago Justice.
Williamson was last seen in FOX's 24 and Showtime's Justified, along with ABC's acclaimed series, Designated Survivor.
