'American Horror Story' Season 7 Title Announced

FX has finally released the title for the next season of American Horror Story.

The season is titled American Horror Story: Cult.

In addition, the show's creator, Ryan Murphy, also recently announced that Girls alum Lena Dunham will be joining the cast of American Horror Story for the upcoming seventh season.

In a tweet, Murphy made the announcement saying, "Thrilled that my talented friend Lena Dunham is joining the AMERICAN HORROR STORY family. Always wanted to work together, and now we r!"

No specific details about her role have been revealed at this time, but it is known that the theme of the season is inspired by the 2016 presidential election.

The series is reportedly said to be filming and American Horror Story writer/producer John J. Gray confirmed that it had.

Dunham recently wrapped her own show, Girls, which aired on HBO, so this is her first major project since.

In addition to Dunham, we know that American Horror Story vets Sarah Paulson and Evan Peters will star, as well as series newcomers Billie Lourd (who previously worked with Ryan Murphy on FOX's Scream Queens) and Billy Eichner, from Billy on the Street.

Other than the aforementioned details, Murphy and the FX network has been notoriously tight-lipped about the plans for the season. They're keeping a lot of info under wraps.
