O.J. Simpson Prosecutor Opens Up About That Infamous Glove

The O.J. Simpson trial is one of the most infamous legal cases in history, and it's been a hot topic of the discussion over the last couple of years due to its pop culture revival via American Crime Story. Now one of the prosecutors in the case, Christopher Darden has opened up about that infamous glove moment.
In the middle of the trial, Simpson was asked to try on the gloves found at the crime scene of Nicole Brown's murder. Simpson tired them on, but they seemed to not fit properly, possibly due to Simpson flexing his hand to cause them to not fit.

This exchange led to defense attorney Johnny Cochran's famous line from the case, "If it doesn't fit, you must acquit."
Darden discussed that moment with a clip from the upcoming Oxygen series The Jury Speaks, which was shared with TMZ. He acknowledeges the moment's iconic nature, but also insists from his point-of-view Simpson forced the glove to not fit.
"O.J. putting the glove on, that's the greatest courtroom demonstration in the history of American jurisprudence," Darden said. "It's beautiful, if you wanna see it for what it is, which is O.J. doing everything he can not to make the glove fit. But in reality, the way the glove fit on his hand in the courtroom is the way it fit on his hand in the photographs on him on the sidelines at professional football games."

Another interview subject appears and criticizes Darden for allowing the demonstration to go ahead. However, Darden stands by his decision, and acknowledges it was a smart ploy by Cochran and the defense.
"We all made decisions," he said. "We all made decisions he have to live with. Cochran did his job. I didn't like the way he did it, but he did his job."
Darden was portrayed by Sterling K. Brown in the award-winning series American Crime Story: The People vs. O.J. Simpson.
